Local Businesses Targeted for Markham Vale Unveil
Local businesses will be the first in the country to attend an official unveiling of North Derbyshire’s largest commercial/industrial park on 22nd June, when the company behind the ambitious scheme, Henry Boot Developments Ltd, holds an Open Day on the 220-acre development site.
The Markham Vale development project will see the creation of 3 million square feet of commercial floor space by Henry Boot Developments in partnership with Derbyshire County Council on the former Markham Colliery site off the A632, and the subsequent creation of 5,000 jobs for the area.
Part of The first phase of development will be an initial scheme totalling 45,000 sq. ft, comprising small to medium sized commercial units ranging in size from 3,000 sq. ft to 15,000 sq. ft. All will be well suited to the needs of expanding local firms who require room to grow. The development will also provide for larger units, up to 1 million square feet, suitable for major employers and blue chip companies
Vivienne Clements of Henry Boot Developments comments: “As such a significant proportion of the development will be suitable for small and medium size companies, we wanted businesses in the area to be the first to witness what we are offering here, which includes quality speculative premises and design and build accommodation in a superb location just off the M1.
“We’re anticipating that the event will really put the development on the map, and will allow those interested parties to meet with us and see how Markham Vale will meet their current and future requirements.”
Essential infrastructure work, including the creation of a new M1 motorway junction, 29A, providing direct access to the site will commence in early Summer, with the development’s spine roads set to follow.
The Leeds and Nottingham-based offices of King Sturge have been appointed as commercial agents to market the scheme, and their representatives will attend on the day.
The Open Day will be held at the Markham Vale Environment Centre, Markham Lane off the A632 between Chesterfield and Bolsover, between 10am and 4pm on 22nd June, and is open to any interested parties.
